OJK STRENGTHENS LEADERSHIP AND INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY
IN NORTH SUMATERA

Medan, 1 August 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to strengthen its leadership and institutional capacity in North Sumatera to enhance the resilience of the financial services sector and support sustainable regional economic growth.

For this commitment, OJK Vice Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners Hernawan Bekti Sasongko inaugurated Triyoga Laksito as Head of OJK North Sumatera during a ceremony held at Raja Inal Siregar Hall, North Sumatera Governor's Office, on Friday. Triyoga succeeds Khoirul Muttaqien, who has assumed a new assignment within OJK.

In his remarks, Hernawan emphasized that strengthening leadership across OJK regional offices is essential to enhancing the effectiveness of OJK's strategic roles and responsibilities.

“The inauguration goes beyond leadership succession, it is a momentum of strengthening OJK's roles in the regions upon facing the increasingly complex economic dynamics and expanding the financial services sector's contribution for common welfare," Hernawan said.

Hernawan stated that the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector Law (UU P2SK) implementation has expanded OJK's mandate as well as ra ising the people's expectation in OJK's capacity in maintaining financial system stability, protecting consumers, and increasing financial services sector's contribution to both national and regional economic growth.

Amid the global economic uncertainties, Indonesia economy maintained decent endurance. The condition is reflected in North Sumatera Province, with 4.98 percent economic growth in the quarter I-2026, supported by maintained financial services sector performance. Therefore, Hernawan underlined the importance of regional OJK leaders demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and strong collaboration with regional governments, the financial services industry, and other key stakeholders.

Furthermore, Hernawan encouraged Regional Economic Development (“PED") Program strengthening through collaborations between OJK, the regional governments, the financial services industry, business actors, and all stakeholders in expanding financial access and increasing financial services sector's contribution to the economic growth and social welfare.

Governor of North Sumatera Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution emphasized financial services sector policy that accommodates the respective regional characteristics and necessities. He views that coordination between OJK and the regional government is essential for economic recovery, particularly MSME actors, farmers, and people affected by disasters. The coordination includes optimization of Financial Information Services System (SLIK).

The North Sumatera Governor also encouraged sharia economy and finance strengthening as one of the regional economic growth factors. Henceforth, collaboration between the Provincial Government of North Sumatera, OJK, the financial services industry, and all stakeholders shall be nurtured to establish an inclusive, efficient, and competitive sharia financial ecosystem.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by OJK Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments, Heads of OJK Regional Offices across North Sumatera, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), regents and mayors, leaders of financial services institutions, academics, and other stakeholders.

 

North Sumatera OJK Provincial Office Building Development Topping-Off Ceremony

Simultaneously, Hernawan also attended the North Sumatera OJK Provincial Office building development topping-off ceremony during his work visit. The procession marked the conclusion of initial structure of the building to the seventh-floor rooftop development as a milestone in OJK institutional capacity enhancement in supporting the regulatory, supervisory, consumer protection, and financial services sector development duties.

Hernawan emphasized that the building development is an institutional investment to strengthen OJK's roles in the regions.

“This building is more than physical infrastructure. It will serve as a hub for coordination and collaboration, reinforcing OJK's role in fostering a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable financial services sector. We expect it to further enhance supervisory effectiveness, improve public services, and enable OJK to respond more swiftly to the needs of regional economic development," Hernawan said.

The North Sumatera OJK Provincial Office is the seventh office building developed by OJK on a greenfield site and has been designed in accordance with green building principles as part of OJK's commitment to sustainable development. Once completed, the new office is expected to further strengthen collaboration among regional governments, the financial services industry, and other stakeholders, while enhancing public services, financial literacy and inclusion initiatives, and consumer protection across North Sumatera.
