STRONG FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTOR CONTRIBUTION FOR SOVEREIGN, FAIR, AND PROSPEROUS INDONESIA
OJK Holds Flag Ceremony of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta, 17 August 2026. Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi emphasized OJK's role in strengthening financial services sector contribution in creating sovereign, fair, and prosperous Indonesia through financial services sector stability and integrity enforcement, safe and responsible financial access expansion, and financial services sector roles development in increasing productive economy activities and sustainable economic growth.
“To empower a sovereign Indonesia, we must ensure a strong, stable, integrous financial services sector that is capable to support national development programs. Our supervision shall endure turmoil, adapt to technological developments, firm in enforcing regulations, and nation-oriented," Friderica stated during her remarks for the Flag Ceremony of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta, on Monday.
Meanwhile, to realize fair and just Indonesia, OJK must continuously expand a safe, affordable, and responsible access to financial services, Friderica said.
“Inclusion should go hand in hand with literacy. Innovation should go hand in hand with consumer protection. Digital developments should open doors to various opportunities instead of frauds, data misuse, or other practices detrimental to the public," she explained.
Moreover, fair means ensuring equal development opportunities for MSME actors, women, young people, and communities in the frontier, outermost and least developed (3T) regions.
To drive Indonesia to prosperity, financial services sector ought to advocate for productive activities: distributing financing to businesses that starts employment, increasing downstreaming and optimizing national industries, supporting innovations, and financing sustainable economic growth.
The Nation's Entrustment
Friderica reminded thousands of OJK employees on the greater duties entrusted to OJK by the country, as conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto during the National Speech in the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) on 14 August 2026. He has entrusted and given OJK a strategic mandate to support the national development agenda.
“For us, it is not merely about the additional duties and authorities. It is a national mandate, entrusted to OJK, that must be implemented," Friderica said.
As conveyed, the President's strategic mandates to OJK are:
- Development of Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange (BMKS)
- Capital Market Reform
- Carbon Exchange Ecosystem Development through Carbon Unit Registry System (SRUK)
According to Friderica, OJK is responsible in establishing a credible, integrous, transparent market and Indonesia Reference Price as an implementation of the mandate in supervising and regulating the Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange.
“Not only to establish an exchange. It is a part of the effort to strengthen Indonesia's market sovereignty in the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Sector for common welfare," she explained.
The Capital Market Reform policy that has been carried out since the beginning of the year is one of the national development financing foundations. Therefore, the capital market reform agendas, such as institutional optimization and demutualization of the Stock Exchange, shall create a momentum to develop a deeper, more liquid, more transparent, more integrous, more competitive, and more trustworthy Indonesia capital market.
Meanwhile the Carbon Exchange ecosystem development through SRUK creates an opportunity for this national to establish a credible, transparent, and globally connected national carbon market ecosystem. OJK shall ensure financial services sector as the enabler in accelerating green economy financing and sustainable development.
The Flag Ceremony of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was held and participated by all employees in Jakarta and was simultaneously held in 39 OJK Offices in Indonesia.
