OJK STRENGTHENS ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL ECOSYSTEM IN SHARIA FINANCIAL LITERACY AND ACCESS EXPANSION, SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL PRIORITY PROGRAM

Kediri, 14 April 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to enhance public sharia financial literacy and inclusion through Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Ecosystem Strengthening, a strategic measure that supports the Government's Priority Programs and encourages economic independence of the community.

Chief Executive of Market Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection of OJK Dicky Kartikoyono conveyed this message during the Sharia Financial Education Forum and Business Meeting FEBIS and Sharia Financial Literacy for Santri SAKINAH, held in collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) st Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo, Kediri, Tuesday.

Dicky said, Islamic boarding schools with significant number of santri (students) are essential as the educational center and community economy driver, as well as solid ecosystem to support the government's priority programs.

“The government's priority programs are not only designed to address current needs but also to prepare future generations. We should be grateful for these long-term, forward-looking initiatives," Dicky said.

Dicky viewed that the Free Meal Program (MBG) goes beyond nutritional value, enhancing human resources quality at early age. Simultaneously, the program provides vast economic opportunities.

Dicky explained the current ecosystem, from agricultural, animal husbandry, fishery, to plantation, may become a part of the supply chain in this program. Communities surrounding the school may become suppliers, thereby fostering a fostering a sustainable local economic cycle.

OJK attends as a catalyst that accelerates and connects as well as facilitators that opens access establish comprehension in addition to as regulator. These roles are carried out through programs that directly engage with the problems and necessities on site.

Furthermore, he explains that in FEBIS, business actors are introduced to sharia financing alternatives and met with financial services institutions through business matching, for real-time financing opportunities.

Dicky concluded his remark by highlighting joint collaborations between the government, regulators, financial services industry, pesantren, and the communities to strengthen pesantren ecosystem.

Vice Chairman of BGN of Nutrition Fulfillment Operations Inspector General of Police (Vet) Sony Sanjaya stated that the MBG program is one of the essential government programs for the people in the present and the future.

“The program targets vulnerable communities such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and students, including santri. The government strives to ensure good nutritional intake for the next generation since prenatal," Sony said.

According to Sony, the program also involves millions of volunteers, particularly from communities in the low economic status, thereby directly impacting common welfare and providing multiplier effect for the economy

Chairman of PBNU KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf, who attended the event, is very supportive of the MBG program, which is a fundamental program that improves santri quality of life in the future.

“What we strive to do is to thoroughly improve the human capital educated and raised by pesantren. Excellent intellectual, inshaAllah, will be physically excellent through these programs, and of course, remain spiritually excellent," Gus Yahya said.

The event is a part of joint measure in further promoting pesantren economy ecosystem, including government's priority programs focusing on human resources quality enhancement and community-based economic empowerment, specifically nutritional fulfilment and business development in pesantren.

 

Improving Santri Literacy on Financial and Physical Health

Through SAKINAH, OJK promotes sharia financial literacy improvement for the students. The event explored “Healthy Santri, Solid Finances, Great Future" as its theme was attended by approximately hundreds of santri and discussed sharia financial products and services introduction, financial management, awareness on illegal financial activities, and the importance of nutrition in creating healthy and productive generation.

Santris are expected to have awareness on the importance of nutrition for healthier soul and body in addition to financial health through well-used sharia financial products/services as a part to achieve prosperity in the future.

OJK also promoted sharia financial access expansion in the pesantren ecosystem through FEBIS, which was attended by 150 participants including Nutritional Fulfillment Services (SPPG), Nahdlatul Ulama-owned enterprises, supplier as a part of MBG Program ecosystem supply chain, and business actors in pesantren.

The event featured presentation from Sharia Financial Services Business Actors (PUJK) and business matching in the form of discussion between business actors and Sharia PUJK, to aid in deepening public comprehension as business actors in choosing sharia financial products alternatives in accordance with their needs and capabilities.

To expand sharia financial access through business matching, FEBIS events mainly focus on sharia financial products and services insights expansion and financial access expansion potentials through business actors capacity enhancement in accordance with the principles of prudence by Sharia PUJK.

Through this approach, business actors are expected to further understand the required aspects in accessing sound and sustainable financing. A ceremonial event of Nutritional Fulfilment Services Task Force SPPG Pesantren, which became a concrete proof of the Government's Priority Program Implementation in the Pesantren ecosystem.

Sharia financial access symbolic opening for Pesantren was also held as well as inscription signing for the 27 SPPG as a part of the pesantren ecosystem strengthening.

This initiative reflects strong synergy between sharia financial sector and the real economy sector in supporting competitive and sustainable pesantren ecosystem development.

Abdullah Kafabihi Mahrus along with other members of the Lirboyo community, President Director of Bank Syariah Nasional (BNS) Alex Sofian Noor, Director of Retail Banking of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Kemas Erwan Husainy, and the East Java regional leadership coordination forum and officials.
