OJK STRENGTHENS FINANCIAL LITERACY AND DIGITAL SKILLS AMONG PEOPLE'S SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SUPPORT OF GOVERNMENT PRIORITY PROGRAMS
Jakarta, 22 October 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continuously improves financial literacy and digital aptitude for young people in OJK Digiclass People's School 2026 “Time to Create, Creating Achievements". OJK Digiclass reflects OJK's commitment to enhancing young people's financial literacy and digital capabilities while commemorating Youth Pledge Day.
OJK Digiclass 2026 was held at People's High School Hall Jakarta on Tuesday and was attended by 500 People's School students. The program featured interactive financial literacy sessions and digital creativity classes designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to use technology productively, safely, and responsibly, while encouraging them to develop their potential and turn their aspirations into real opportunities.
Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated that digital technology advancement unlocks various and wide opportunities for young people to learn, create, and seize economic opportunities. However, these opportunities must be accompanied by stronger financial literacy and a sound understanding of risks in the digital environment.
“This is one of OJK's efforts to protect the public by providing education and strengthening financial literacy so that young people can avoid falling victim to scams, as many scam victims are young people," Friderica said.
She explained that OJK Digiclass at People's Schools also supports the government's efforts to provide students with essential life skills beyond academic education, including the financial knowledge they need to prepare for their future.
“This class is special. It teaches not only financial literacy but also digital literacy. When combined, these two areas provide extraordinary knowledge and skills that will be valuable for your future," Friderica said.
Meanwhile, Head of Central Information Commission Agung Saputro highlighted how public information disclosure and digital literacy are essential in creating equal opportunities for young people in unlocking their potential and achieving their dreams. Handoko also extended his appreciation for OJK Digiclass at People's School in support of the government to provide education for the people.
“I hereby extend my deepest appreciation for OJK, whose concern moves beyond the national economic, supporting and realizing the President's vision and mission to educate the life of the nation through People's School," he conveyed.
General Director of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Fifi Aleyda Yahya advised the students to critically observe and use digital information advancement, including in using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“However, my dearest young friends, Artificial Intelligence is only a tool, not a replacement for our brain, our conscience, and our instinct as a living human-being," she explained.
Based on the 2026 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK), the school and university student group's financial literacy index is at 62.72 percent, lower than the national financial literacy index at 69.57 percent. Meanwhile, the group's financial inclusion index has reached 92.76 percent.
The figures emphasized the importance of early financial literacy improvements for the youth to gain access to financial products and services, as well as to prudently and responsibly understand and utilize them.
Attending students at the People's School were also inaugurated as Financial Literacy Ambassadors during the event, as a measure to expand financial education reach through young people's active participation. Financial Literacy Ambassadors are a part of establishment measures of better financial literacy culture in both educational environment and the public community.
