CAPITAL MARKET INTEGRITY ENFORCEMENT PRIORITY
OJK Launches Gold ETF in Commemoration of the 49th Anniversary of Indonesia Capital Market Reactivation
Jakarta, 10 August 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) sets forth capital market integrity enforcement as a main priority in accelerating Indonesia Capital Market transformation into efficacy, transparency, credibility, and innovativeness.
Indonesia Capital Market Strengthening is expected to support national development costs and transformation toward resilient and sustainable Indonesia economy.
“OJK is committed to continuously improve liquidity, transparency, governance, and enforcement and synergy as a part of the Indonesia Capital Market integrity reform action plan. OJK also constantly enhance its institutional capacity and monitoring system," Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated in the Commemoration of the 49th Anniversary of Indonesia Capital Market Reactivation in Jakarta, Monday.
Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Vice Minister of Finance Juda Agung, Members of OJK Board of Commissioners, Self-Regulatory Organizations (SRO), associations, and other stakeholders attended the Capital Market Anniversary “Accelerating Transformation for Common Sovereignty, Independence, and Advancement" in Jakarta, Monday.
Friderica presented how many of the previous capital market integrity reform have already changed the current Indonesia Capital Market, namely through breakthrough of 30.27 million Single Investor Identification (SID), a 48.67 percent (yoy) growth.
“Surely these aren't just numbers, or an investor growth. It reflects Indonesian people's trust, confidence, and hopes in Indonesia Capital Market," Friderica said.
Meanwhile the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto named the Commemoration of 49th Anniversary of Indonesia Capital Market Reactivation as a momentum to continuously maintain investors' trust in both international and national economy and financial market, as Capital Market is an economic proxy choice for investors, especially in strategic times.
“I would like to appreciate the current reform, and I hope the financial sector will become even more credible in innovating and competing," Airlangga expressed.
Vice Minister of Finance Juda Agung also extended his appreciation upon OJK and SROs' Indonesia Capital Market integrity reform and expected the Capital Market to become the catalyst of deeper, more liquid, more credible and more trustworthy national economic growth, to optimally facilitates investments and to support the economic growth targets.
“The Government welcomes the current reform agendas by OJK and IDX. From improving liquidity, enhancing transparency, enforcing governance, to deepening the market, which are all included in the Indonesia Capital Market integrity reform action plan," he said.
The Launching of Gold ETF
For the 49th Anniversary of Indonesia Capital Market, Gold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) was also launched as a new investment product, tradable in the stock exchange.
Friderica added that Gold ETF is a quick accomplishment of one of the eight action plans carried out by OJK: integrated market deepening.
“Gold ETF offers practical, liquid, and sharia-compliant investment, which also serves as a safe haven and expands the Bullion Market through collaborations between fellow institutions and industry players," Friderica explained.
Airlangga Hartarto expressed the same hope in Gold ETF as a product that may strengthen the national economy as a part of the market deepening strategy.
“I hope this product will become the new investment option, as well as a tool to increase liquidity," Airlangga said.
Juda Agung supported the launching of Gold ETF, expecting to expand investor bases, diversify instruments, increase liquidity, and optimize governance.
Chief Executive of Capital Markets, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision of OJK Hasan Fawzi also expressed hopes in Gold ETF in increasing Indonesia Capital Market stability through instruments diversification and investment option for the investors.
Indonesia Capital Market's Performance
As of 7 August 2026, the funds gathered from capital market amounted to Rp123.21 trillion through 135 corporate actions with beyond 962 issuer companies in the Indonesia Capital Market.
The significantly increasing investor number reached 30.27 million, growing by 9.8 million investors, with majority of 78 percent of investors under 40 years old. The Net Mutual Fund Assets Value as of 7 August 2026 was at Rp667 trillion while Asset Under Management (AUM) was at Rp1,026 trillion.
In carbon trading, the cumulative transaction volume as of 26 September 2023 up to 7 August 2026 reached 1.98 million tons CO2 equivalent valued at Rp93.89 billion, participated by 158 companies with 3.14 million tons CO2 equivalent unit availability.
“This achievement shows that Indonesia Capital Market continues to grow, from fundraising capability for businesses to investor bases expansion. On the other hand, improvement of fund management reflects the people's developing choices and investment needs," Hasan Fawzi said during the 49th Anniversary of Indonesia Capital Market Reactivation Press Conference.
During the MSCI Market Classification Review in June 2026, Indonesia once again maintained the Emerging Market classification. The decision becomes an acknowledgement of various improvement measures by OJK and Self-Regulatory Organizations (SRO) and all stakeholders in the Capital Market.
OJK, together with SRO and stakeholders continues to accelerate other strategic initiatives implementation:
- Raising the minimum free float requirement to 15 percent;
- Preparing regulatory framework on High Shareholder Concentration (HSC); and
Increasing share ownership transparency.
In accordance with the Capital Markets, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Roadmap 2022-2027, OJK continues to encourage several target and strategic initiative accomplishments, which lays as a foundation for future capital market development.
The last phase of the roadmap promotes four targets and strategic initiatives:
- Market deepening through optimizing infrastructure supply, demand, and enhancement;
- Market integrity enforcement through effective sanction imposing and Issuer and Public Companies quality enhancement;
- Financial Services Business Actors institutional enhancement through exchange demutualization, Securities Crowdfunding (SCF) organizer quality improvement, and cybersecurity optimization; and
Sustainable Finances Development through adding Carbon Exchange new services user and campaigning for investment product innovation based on biodiversity preservation or Sustainable Fund.
