Eko Wijaya was born in Jakarta in 1985. He earned his Bachelor of Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, in 2005. He later pursued further studies, obtaining a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University in New York, USA, in 2019.

His career began as a staff member at the Ministry of Finance in 2010, before joining the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in 2013. During his tenure at OJK, he held several key positions, including:

• Head of Sub-Division, Department of Strategic Planning and Change Management (2014–2019)
• Staff at the Office of the Chairman (OOC), Board of Commissioners of OJK (2020–2021)
• Head of Division, Department of Banking Research and Regulation (2021–2023)
• Deputy Director, Project Management Office (2023–2025)

Since January 5, 2026, Eko has served as the Head of OJK for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.​
