Financial Consumer Protection Strategy 2013 - 2027

May 31 2017

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) on Thursday (May 18) launched the Financial Consumer Protection Strategy (SPKK) 2013 – 2027 to evaluate its Consumer Protection programs that have been running for the last five years, and respond to challenges in the next 10 years.

The challenges include misrepresented information in financial product sales, the sociology aspect of the public that is easily lured by illegal investment offers—which could inflict financial damages on them, protection of consumer data and personal information, financial technology development, integration across consumer protection regulations, and cross-border transactions.

The SPKK was designed to create a culture of giving fair treatment to customers that emphasizes on market confidence in financial products and services and present a level playing field between consumers and financial services companies. The strategy was adopted to anticipate as well as address national, regional (ASEAN) and international challenges.
