In the last three years, Indonesia has faced extraordinary challenges with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic which has had an impact on various sectors ranging from health to the economy. The Government has made a responsive response by implementing a "gas and brake" policy to balance the handling of the pandemic while simultaneously recovering the national economy.

Through the gas policy carried out with social protection programs, priority program support, as well as business incentives, and brake policies carried out through mobility restrictions, 3M campaigns, and vaccinations, the Government was able to control the rate of spread of Covid-19 and encourage improvements in the performance of various national economic indicators.

"The result is that from a health point of view it has been under control and from a solid economic growth standpoint in 2022 even though the global economy is experiencing a slowdown," said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto when delivering a virtual keynote speech at the X Scientific Accounting Conference 2023, Thursday (9/9). 03).

The effectiveness of the Government's efforts to restore the economy is shown by the impressive achievement of national economic growth in 2022 of 5.31% despite the global and regional economic slowdown. A number of key economic growth indicators also continue to show positive prospects, such as the Consumer Confidence Index at 123 as of January 2023, the Purchasing Manager's Index of 51.2 as of February 2023, to the Real Sales Index which grew by 1.7% (yoy) as of January 2023 .

"Amid the risks of a global slowdown, Indonesia's economic growth is expected to remain in 2023 in the range of 5.3% and at KEM PPKF yesterday for 2024 the range is in the range of 5.3 - 5.7% with inflation targeted to the target range of 3 + 1%, said the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga.

Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga emphasized that to face 2023 the Government will focus on creating jobs, reducing the poverty rate, and improving the quality of human resources. The Government has prepared a number of policy mixes, starting from downstreaming the industry, implementing digitization, to reforming the licensing system through the Job Creation Law.

Along with the projected demographic bonus in 2030, efforts to improve the quality of human resources are also carried out by the Government by providing financing facilities through KUR with an interest rate of 6% to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit. The government is also strengthening the start-ups ecosystem to encourage job creation through various programs such as the 100 Digital Startup Program and startup4industry.id.

In addition, to support the sustainability of research and innovation development, the Government is also implementing a Research and Innovation Funding Program for Advanced Indonesia (RIIM) scheme. The program is given to institutions or research institutions to carry out activities to search for scientific and technological innovation by focusing on various fields ranging from food, health, energy, and it is possible to fund other fields such as the economy.
